Guest House                                                                                               Sonoma County, CA

An early 1920”s farmhouse in West Sonoma County that could have been razed was restored. In this complete remodel we opened the space to create a 1500 sq ft cottage in the California/Spanish tradition.  Now a colorful guest house currently offered on VRBO.  The arched walls are kept as architectural elements  between rooms.  The wood fireplace was replaced with gas and a book shelf was wrapped around the new mantle.  The floors were covered in linoleum squares. Furniture and accessories were hunted, gathered and refurbished. Attention was given to creating this gem as a set from an old movie, with all the new amenities.

Starting with an old restaurant location in Alamo that needed a major overhaul, we were brought in to design an Italian diner for the locals in the area.  Starting from the premise that this was a family oriented suburb of San Francisco, we gave the identity of ‘MY family is MY life’. On a shoestring budget,  we created a dining room where everyone is seen with large mirrors reflecting into the room.  The table arrangements were made for small or large parties using banquettes and flip top tables.  The owner wanted a connection between the bar and the dining room.  We had three 4 x 6 foot glass panels installed as a room divider.  The light and the scene are viewable from either room.  Custom sharing table was constructed for the bar, as well as a handsome back bar reminiscing those seen in Italy by the owner.

A couple moving from San Francisco to New York rented a lovely townhouse in the village. We were asked to re-arrange what they owned into the space and create a colorful interpretation in the style of MIRO.  My partner and I had a wonderful time building a navy blue suspended shelving unit and painting the walls mustard. We installed modern draperies, and added a few new items to put the house together with a modern edge.

When purchased the owners needed a Pied 'a' terre closer to San Francisco.  What better spot than on the water in Sausalito?  The houseboat was in need of a complete overhaul.  With a bit of creative juice from the owner and myself the kitchen was done from IKEA cabinets,  a see through gas fireplace was added between the living room and master bedroom, and a wall of shelves were added.  Smaller furniture was selected with a mid-century flair, as well as a splash of wall paper and colorful bedding.  The triple blue color scheme on the white walls made a happy place to camp over the weekend.

An older ranch style home on a golf course needed opening up.  Our clients were moving to Austin to retire and wanted a large common area, along with a new pool for their new life.  We opened the wall between the rooms and installed porcelain tile with a wood motif. The kitchen was updated with a new island, tile countertops and paint.  Solar shades were added to keep the house cool in the summer.  The living area now opens onto a large covered terrace with a beautiful pool overlooking sunsets and the golf course.  The interiors were done by the owner and an Ethan Allen associate.
